Coffee Table + Bench, the design is fairly straight forward. Limited by the piece of lumber I had and trying to maximize size without turning it into anything less then substantial, nothing delicate. I originally wanted to use smaller legs but the steel I had found earlier was no longer there So I went with larger steel tube that there was plenty of all rusted over; which ended up working better as far as proportion and stability. The general idea for the table was that since the beam was being cut in half and set side by side the cut end would have the legs mounted flush to edge as to imply its half of a longer bench + table. The other leg would be set back in typical fashion but still inset into the beam. The finishing is no finishing. I maintain a philosophy with low impact and pure state. Hence the steel was hand sanded down to a bare raw finish with unidirectional scratches which leaves certain patina and texture. The wood was sanded with an orbital very lighting with 220 as to only smooth everything over and get rid of some of the dirt on the surface. No stains or sealants. I have a feeling B&A, Brian and Albert, might seal it but for me any stains nick starches dents and what ever else is only character and it could always be refinished.
