Following an international competition in 2007, Allied Works was selected to design an institution dedicated to the profound and mysterious work of Clyfford Still.
As he gained acclaim, Still rejected the art world. He continued painting in his seclusion until the end of his life without ever revealing his work. Still stipulated in his will that his 2400 paintings and drawings would remain as an indivisible collection and would never be exhibited with the work of another artist. The Museum provides the opportunity for the public to see over ninety percent of his life’s work for the first time.
