The design proposal of Port and Cruise Service Center encapsulates on the notion of 'duet', through which signifies the diversity of already-enriched Taiwan local culture. The characteristic of 'duet' is that one outshines the other with the uniqueness of its own but also both to exist in harmony in nature. To create a space from which a sense of intertwining relationship integrates with the local marine environment. Such space, in which people from different culture background can freely experience the distinctive local culture and city landscape is of great diversity but in unity as Kaohsiung Port and Cruise Service Center is desired to be and therefore to forming one giant culture crossover terrace. City of Kaohsiung was missing a 'terrace', is a one-dimensional city. In contrast to other world cities, Kaohsiung has no elevated viewpoints from which people can look out over the city. Stepping outdoor platform that the city and sea could be admired in many ways is becoming a significant design element. We believe the opportunity is important to create such 'terrace', which will help the city grow in the future prospect in a very positive way. * In collaboration with George Chen and Calvin Kwan
