Nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Montreuil, this 70m² apartment, located in a 2000s building, is designed as an open plan. The approach reveals its original structure by simplifying its layout, bringing light and flow to every corner, and inviting the city inside.
The apartment’s through layout is mirrored by a continuous balcony on the north side and a terrace on the south side, creating a direct connection with the surrounding environment and offering views of Paris from both ends of the apartment.
The shared wall, outfitted with external insulation, retains its raw texture and enhances thermal inertia. Inside, wood fiber insulation has been applied to all external and internal partitions as well as technical shafts. This bio-based material has a low ecological footprint thanks to its energy-efficient production. Offering excellent thermal and acoustic insulation, wood fiber is resistant to insects, rodents, mold, and fungi while being fully recyclable.
A personalized touch shapes the project from concept to custom-made furniture. The design emphasizes visual transparency while defining spaces by reducing the number of doors from seven to three. This approach allows continuous light flow and frames views of the city.
The floor insulation was achieved using regenerated rubber, sourced from recycled aircraft tires and plastic components. The custom-designed light fixtures are crafted from repurposed steel, adding a sustainable and artisanal dimension to the project.
