When Crescendo, a home automation and audio/visual company decided to relocate their showroom, the initial design discussions centered on the difficulty in being able to demonstrate their products in an environment that their clients could visualize in their own homes.
The solution was to step away from a retail showroom model and create a complete ‘home’ inside their new space. In an effort to maximize this experience, the owners of Crescendo were introduced to NOVA Studio, a distributor of Arclinea kitchens, Kreon lighting, Lemma wardrobes and other interior furnishings that was looking to establish a presence in the Hamptons.
After being greeted by a receptionist, customers are escorted to a discreet ‘front door’ of a modern house and into the Crescendo Experience Center. The circulation sequence proceeds through foyer, living room, kitchen, home theater, bedroom and bath that all spiral around a central ‘outdoor’ dining space, complete with thick grass and a starry night sky. The design allows for products such as lighting, automatic shades, TV lifts and stereo equipment to be demonstrated in conditions similar to those found in an actual home, versus shelves on a showroom floor.
Since opening, the space has been tremendously successful for both businesses as well as the home of numerous demonstrations, parties and events.
