Located in the rural area of Covelas, parish of São Miguel do Mato, municipality of Arouca, and with the purpose of constituting a rural tourism unit, this project aimed to give the maximum architectural quality to the proposal by respecting the surrounding environment, thus allowing the enjoyment of the great natural and scenic values of the place and its surroundings.
This architectural proposal, besides integrating into the site with the construction of two one-story housing units and respective support equipment, such as sports fields and a swimming pool, defines a forest and the creation of a shrubby area of native species, such as rosemary and other aromatic herbs.
Constructively, the project can be considered sustainable due to the use of the SIP system, which implies the use of modular panels, which will be organized with the objective of having a functional and comfortable space, acoustically and thermally, which will not be oblivious to the orientation of the rooms, as well as the existence of large covered balconies protected by glass panels that will allow the client to rest and relax in the midst of nature.
In terms of form, the proposal aims to respect the typical vernacular housing of the region, using a floor and inclined roofs without losing its contemporary aspect where the materials used, such as wood, stone, steel, glass and zinc, combined with a chromatic scale suited to the surrounding tones of nature, complete the scenario idealized by the architect and client.
