The renovation of two floors of a historic building in the pedestrian area of Cuneo’s old town stems from the desire to overcome the fragmentation of the original volumes. The intervention involved an entire floor and was extended specularly to the upper level, where two additional apartments were created, mirroring the same spatial organization and the same design philosophy.
The Casa Corte apartment, overlooking the inner courtyard, is characterized by an intimate and silent atmosphere that engages with the building’s more private dimension. The spatial layout was conceived to ensure continuity and flexibility even within limited floor areas, with solutions capable of guiding movement and enhancing the perception of space.
A central element of the project is a full-height wooden sliding door, divided into three panels, which allows the living and sleeping areas to be either separated or connected, modulating light, privacy, and spatial perception according to the different needs of everyday living.
A custom-made piece of furniture wraps around the walk-in wardrobe as a continuous element, transforming along its length and taking on different functions: on the kitchen side it becomes a bench for the dining table, helping to optimize surfaces and reinforcing the idea of integrated furnishings conceived as an integral part of the architecture.
The result is a compact yet carefully designed home, where every choice arises from a dialogue between functionality, daily use, and spatial quality, delivering an intimate environment that is coherent with the historic context in which it is set.
