These are some of DS Design Projects in Turkey including; DS's own private company projects from 1991 to 2000 and DS projects while working at municipility from 2000 to 2004:
AYDIN, DIRECTORATE BUILDING OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS
DS Design developed three different building design options in a very short period of time and presented them to the governor of the province. One of the proposal that the governor and managers selected had less floors than the others and shapes with five separated boxes. The box in the middle is designed to be an atrium and circulation center area. The east part of the box is designed as a public salon and conference center. The restaurant for employees is on the top floor of the atrium box. The west side of the box belongs to governor and top managers. The other two boxes are designed for public service and officers.
Note: Unfortunately, when the construction is completed; the exterior finish, materials, color and facade objects were not matching with DS's design.
ECONOMY CONGRESS STATUE
This statue was planned to be built as a gift from the Municipality to the Industry Societies. DS's aim to design this sculpture was the target of symbolizing their equal societies.
It's designed as four chrome posts with angled tops, each of identical figure is represented one of the group. The back side of the design was surrounded by a half rounded top with thick brick wall. Marble booklets are also placed in front of these statues giving the relevant information about these Industry Societies.
TURAN RENOVATION PROJECT
DS's linear mixed use building idea at Turan historic village is created for Municipality. There were lots of industrial buildings in the area but the goal was changing the area from industrial use to touristic center. Turan is small village near by the highway of Altinyol which is the only connection between the two populated districts of Izmir. There is a railway passing thru from there including the train station. The other location advantage is that the village sits near by Izmir Gulf.
DS's concept came from separating aim of this little village from the loud noise of Altinyol Highway. Its designed as a long linear building with 2 floors which sits on top of existing train station along the railway. The idea was targeting to demolish all the industrial factories while protecting the historical residential buildings. Maximum building height is planned to be 3 floors in all Turan. There was a large amphitheater is planned at the beginning of schematic designs but later on this idea changed by Municipality. There is no car entry concept into the village. Visitors would leave their car at both side of the parking buildings located each edge of this linear building. Village would also be connected to other ports of the city by boats from the coast in this DS's design concept. Design contains fish farms at the edge of this port as well.
Unfortunately the concept couldn't finalized to reality. This design is found over budget.
RESIDENTIAL @ BORNOVA
This building construction project was prepared and submitted to city hall by other architect. Owner of the building sold this house to DS's new client, and he wanted DS to design new interior and remodeling the home without changing the structure of it.
DS kept the same floor plans on approved project except she added recreation center with pool, sauna at basement floor and new studio to attic floor.
New custom designs include; new garden walls, all new iron works, parquet stairs and floors, remodeled kitchen and bathrooms, fireplace, cabinets and furniture, marble floors, veneers, exterior and interior paintings, gypsum plasters, moldings also the new electric system.
Exterior stone plaster is superimposed as trying to give a valuable Turkish antique style look by one of a kind old style Turkish stone expert. Yet some of exterior details couldn't accomplished as DS's imaginations, again it's because budget limits.
