Since the beginning the project focused upon the way in which the user perceives and lives the space. A positive and healthy ambiance, with abundant natural light and beautiful views, that confirms the sense of wellbeing that the organization and their visitors require during their whole stay. The project also has all the services and best technology for function´s proper execution, and was developed to obtain the LEED Gold certification that was granted a few months after starting operation.
One of the design guidelines was the acoustic comfort and the more prominent element is the pergola. Its target was to praise the value of the structure —a high louvered slab that reflects on the pergola in a mayor scale— that when covered with recycled PET panels is transformed in an almost sculptural element with phono absorbent qualities. In the private offices the walls were covered with acoustic textiles and wood, among high traffic carpets carbon neutral floor.
In XXI century, offices, sustainability is a priority meaning lighting design is indispensable and, in this project, a perfect balance between natural and artificial light was achieved. During the morning lighting is completely natural and through the day, a series of sensors placed on the façade, detect the need to increase the lighting in the spaces with artificial light that raise the intensity until reaching the correct levels once the sun has gone down. These is complemented with presence sensors in all the close and open spaces, ensuring the optimum levels of energy consumption, same as were the base on the design of all engineering.
With the wellbeing of all the collaborators in mind, different spaces withing the same offices were developed to make sure all the activities are being conducted in the optimum conditions. There are private offices with formal meeting spaces in combination with open working spaces and
informal meeting areas. A green wall marks the transition to the following area in which the main character is biophilic design.
“El Parke” (the park) is a versatile area with a ludic character where activities between collaborators and their visitors take place. It was equipped with operative working stations, with all the services and commodities to make informal reunions, events, lectures and recreational activities, among many more.
This zone was placed surrounding the grand central structure that results from the abstraction of a tree and is formed by a concrete column with steel oviform rings that are joined with a delicate tissue done with transparent vinyl cable. Being the south façade, more than 150 plants were placed forming a heat barrier that also contributes to the humidity and oxygenation bolstering the wellbeing sensation of being in contact with nature.
