Our challenge was to use lighting to reinforce the architecture in this corporate dining space retrofit. In the servery, our approach was to highlight the food, while letting the light levels fall off in the circulation areas in order to make the food stand out. We were able to keep the ceilings free of fixtures by having a slot that mirrored the island below it.
The wood ceiling area servered as a transition space between the servery and the main seating area. Lines of light act as a visual cue to direct peoples attention to the seating area.
The cafe in this area had warm finishes and modern lights to evoke the feeling of a coffeehouse.
The high ceiling area of the seating used to be a grid of downlights. This was replaced with lines of light which provide ambient light levels. Aimable fixtures at the end of each line can add extra light to tables.
