TRO Jung|Brannen designed this multi-use space to serve as an inspirational gathering plaza for work, collaboration, and events. The conference center is the client's largest collaborative space on it's Cambridge campus and is used by employees as well as local technology companies. The unconventional materials, dramatic lighting, and state-of-the-art audio visual components, clearly identify this space for entertaining and incorporates the company's brand.
TRO Jung|Brannen transformed the twenty year old building with outstanding views of the Charles River into an open conference center. The space designed is a study of reflection, refraction and translucency, achieved by the use of glass in various applications. The combinations of raw, urban-influenced materials are counter-balanced by the use of sophisticated refined glass applications throughout the architectural and millwork elements. The large conference room opens with rotation glass panels direct to the pre-function space, allowing large groups to flow back and forth unrestricted. A moving partition allows the conference room to split from one large room into three separate spaces.
The pre-function area is an open space for groups to socialize and network, and brainstorming sessions. Sliding white board panels stack behind perimeter columns, allowing for maximum collaboration areas without blocking views and the exterior patios serve as additional breakout/meeting space. The living room spaces were created with glass walls and sliding doors and evoke a residential ambience through the use of a built-in entertainment center, drapery and accessories.
The project incorporates numerous sustainable design elements to create a vibrant workspace. Many recyclable materials were used including existing concrete flooring, carpet tile and gypsum wallboard. All lighting throughout the space is controlled by a dimming systems and daylighting and shared views permeate the interior spaces. Interior landscape is integrated throughout to enhance employee creativity and well-being, as well as improve air quality.
