Within a property of 933 square meters (m2) located in the Americana suburb, an area that is in the process of regeneration in the city of Guadalajara Jalisco, Mexico, there was an abandoned house cataloged as an "Environmental Value", as well as the orchard of the same house. Interacting with the authorities responsible of the arquitectural heritage of the city, a rescue project is proposed to rescue the house as well as the redensification of the property through a vertical proposal that will be accommodated precisely in the orchard area. The challenge, again, is the dialogue between the two architectural proposals, the one from the 1940´s and the one from the present, respecting but also proposing and trying to speak about contemporary, regionalism, of roots. An 8 story building is proposed oriented towards the south, taking advantage of the views over the existing house combining these with a house of "Relevant Arquitectural Value" which is also adjoining south.
To the east the street of “General Coronado” which, in addition to giving us access to the development, also offers us the possibility to open part of the building to the east offering views towards the Historic center of the city. In this way eighteen departments are resolved with characteristics of studio type apartments of one bed room, organized so that, in a dynamic way, the building is losing weight as it grows in height, achieving this way a formal dynamic proposal, having as an important tool the open spaces, terraces that offer a kind relief from the interior spaces, taking advantage of the magnificent weather of the city. The original house now becomes two households capitalizing the generosity of the original spaces of that time.
The use of the roofs, both the original house and the one of the building has become meeting places around urban gardens seeking to promote food sovereignty.
