The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) is an international research, education, and outreach center based in Barcelona. Its mission is to imagine and build the habitat of the future, exploring the boundaries of architecture and design through the integration of digital and sustainable technologies.
One of its notable projects is "CORA" (Cathedral of Robotic Artisans), a workshop located on the Valldaura Labs campus in Barcelona. Designed to house and operate a 6-axis industrial robot, this space combines a wooden structure with skylights that evoke the atmosphere of a cathedral. The project establishes a dialogue between an old 19th-century brick structure, originally used as a stable, and a new wooden structure representative of 21st-century design.
