CONCEPT
The project started with the aim of having a complete development comprising all expressions and supports necessary to build the original idea presented by the client. He challenged us to design a vegetarian restaurant that demystified the sector and the public, getting closer to anyone sympathetic to a healthy lifestyle and healthy.
To this end, the project began in the design of the brand and its name: Copenhagen. We wanted to express by the name the danish know-how and all the scandinavian lifestyle. An expression that evokes feelings of freshness, quality of life, closeness, friendliness, and so on. From here in advance all seemed to fit, materials, sincere; furniture, the fifties; lighting, warm. We tought than a too much minimalist project will never fit, and we run away from that opting for a rich textures and sensations space.
GRAPH
To realize the graphic design applications we support a enshrined typography of the twenties for the brand: the unconditional Didot. We thought it was an elemental way of bringing the project to the public's sensitive side, framing the project in a vintage flavor. For other information and supports the project we chose a typeface eminently informative and discreet, but no less interesting: the Univers family. Combining the two generates an almost natural dialogue between contemporary and kindness. All applications were prepared with the black and white, positive or negative, giving a result clear and sincere.
ARCHITECTURE
The architectural project proposes a highly variable zoning maximizing the business model. Combining bar area, a large bank for flexible situations and a dining area with a large canteen table getting a wide variety of situations.
It has designed framing an industrial enviroment. The choice of materials was elemental: for all the tables and still bars we have opted for an oak with a clear matte treatment almost imperceptible to keep all the sensory properties of the wood avoiding any material that might contaminate the image we wanted to convey.
All other tables and carpentry items have been resolved with soft iron plate with a clear matte finish that shows all properties of the material. The sincerity in this aspect has been crucial for strengthening the industrial aesthetic, where it has historically been raw and naked. Some elements finished in concrete are contrasted with a warm color palette for walls and ceilings, always fulfilling the commitment to create an atmosphere close.
The space is dominated by the access and the glass wall that separate dinning room from the kitchen and they are always present in all visual. We opted for a complex geometry that support the new industrial image. The element that separates kitchen from the dinning room has a semi-permeable character looking for a transparent relationship between the customer and the kitchen and serving to support items of daily use in cooking as spices, vegetables, condiments, etc.. The backsbar, also designed in soft iron plate with natural finish, continuous cutting proposed by the woodwork. At the top it is continued with a big board that supports the brand and contains some graphic elements.
FURNITURE AND LIGHTING
All the furniture has been selected or designed according to the original premises of the project. To obtain a true atmosphere near to industrial aesthetics we have mixed various twentieth-century classics (such as Charles and Ray Eames Plastic Chair or Jean Prouvé Standard Chair) with other parts designed for the space. Lighting, typology and morphology has been studied for each situation, going on with the overall philosophy of the entire proposal, aiming to give personality and proximity to areas combining luminaries such a flexo with other pendants or focal.
The main bar is dominated by a set of nine paper hanging lamps of different shapes and sizes that give identity to the space from the street. It helps to increase the relationship between the restaurant and the street, winking to Japanese accent of the restaurant kitchen.
