Contained dwellings are prefab container homes that serve people who are interested in staying in Venice for only several months. These temporary homes act as vacation houses or artists’ studio spaces. The goal of the project is to spur community growth and interaction while emphasizing reusable materials through employing recycled containers. The intent is to cultivate a growing container community that transforms over time as a result of different residential needs; essentially, the flexible modules of the temporary container homes will dictate the aesthetics of this container “village”. The owner’s house, which resides on the front half of the lot, is not a flexible modular; however, similar to the temporary homes in the backyard, the house utilizes abandoned containers to promote the importance of reusing existing material.
