The building of the Media library in Verneuil-sur-Seine (France) is the first public building LEED® certified in France. From the design of the building, energy efficiency strategies were implemented: envelope insulation, energy efficient systems and photovoltaic energy production. These strategies allow reducing energy costs by 23%. The building and its systems have been designed so as to reduce water consumption by 69%, ensuring the quality of indoor air and comfort in occupied spaces. A significant work was carried to improve environmental impact with regard to construction activities. The implementation of a waste management plan allowed sorting of construction waste and achieving a waste recovery of 97%. Ecological materials were used: 43% of regional materials, 20% recycled materials and 100% environmentally friendly wood. The work of continuous improvement of the environmental performance of the building has achieved the highest level of certification: LEED ® Platinum.
