'Concrete Box' is an office design produced by young architects who seek the necessity to expand their architectural workspace to create inspiring and innovative projects. The overarching concept was to achieve a mechanical workshop between two main streets where one can learn everything about materials and the construction products. The brief was to only use 26m2 in an existing construction at the front of the site in order to reduce the overall building cost.
The first floor is a semi private area where project presentations and client discussions are held. In order to achieve the correct atmosphere for the space, natural light is allowed to spill into the room. The bathroom uses the vanity as a surprise element that contrasts with the dark walls.
The main function of the second floor is primarily a workspace area, this is where natural light, the height of the building and the colour combined create a practical working environment. The same treatment is applied in the Kitchen, however a different colour and tile treatment is limited to that of the workspace.
And in fusing both of these atmospheres together, we introduced a spiral staircase as a sculptural element which celebrates the interior facade.
