This home for the elderly has an exceptional rural setting in a rolling landscape with a panoramic view of the Alpine foothills. Several folds fragment the volumes of the construction, providing a sense of scale similar to the large neighbouring farms. A hipped roof crowns the faceted building, in dialogue with the Alpine contours of the backdrop. Large windows round off the interplay of scales, providing interior spaces with expansive views of the landscape.
The public area of the ground floor, which is accessible through a deeply set-back façade, is organised around an atrium and houses all common facilities. The east wing encompasses the most private facilities, including the chapel, a morgue and the administrative offices organised around a small inner courtyard. The six care units, counting 89 beds, fill a split structure on the top three levels. Their horizontal circulation surrounds the atrium and the inner courtyard, providing extensive promenades interspersed with different common areas and varied views over the Glâne. The first-floor houses two psychogeriatric units and has an access point to the protected therapeutic gardens, which face the Alpine foothills to the south.
