The Compromise Bench, inspired by the Coral Gables Museum’s history and its mission, looks towards the future while honoring the past. Its main materials are natural stone and a high performance paper composite, which is made of 100% recycled content and it is harder than wood, connected by a stainless steel element. The bench provides flexibility to the museum, it can adapt: to meet the requirements of the new exhibitions, to increase seating areas, to direct the flow of museum patrons, to change the spatial layout and it is also a sculptural piece. When collapsed, the bench measures 8 feet long and 12 feet when extended; when the bench is rotated it maintains these proportions.
