the Complex Formations workshop investigated
emergent formation by scripting in Rhino. the sum-things intended to
design a system would find its form by internal rules and relations to
context. the system is based on branching systems, or L-systems. the
algorithm is used as behavior in three seperate and differentiated
components, each with its own unique quality. the components are able to
adapt to their context by moving their legs, avoiding walls and
mutating by the distance to a lightsource. the components have a form of
intelligence that allows them to generate an emergent formation.
