Complete overhaul of an apartment of 70sq.m in Nuevos Ministerios area (Madrid). The apartment is located in a building of the late 50’s. The dwelling had an interior distribution of five small rooms connected by a long hallway forming an “L”.
The refurbishment project aims to fully change the aspect of the flat, adapting to a new owner’s necessities. We conceived a sequence of open spaces linked all together in order to increase the natural light perceived and creating a particular flow indoor itinerary. The result makes the most of the total available surface.
For defining a clear differentiation between a more public area and other more private, we designed custom-made inside woodwork panels as movable walls. Their mission is key to the way of living: they temporarily delimit rooms which can be easily closed or opened, merging spaces.
These panels are sliding and self-folding pieces that go from floor to ceiling. Made of hardwood structures -oak- they present horizontal strips of cherry-wood over translucent/mirror glazing. Used in transversal planes they multiply the lighting of windows creating a reflection game that adds identity to the interior.
