Third prize winnersKamel Lokman Abdel Latif, and Amir Mohamed El Gohary.
Alexandria, Along the margin of the Med Cities event, the Alex-Med Center at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina competition for architects regarding the re-planning of the Eastern Harbor, its waterfront and the area around the Library of Alexandria. The competition was organized by BA, in collaboration with the Alexandria Governorate and the Alexandria Development Center.Design was not necessarily based on feasibility of the project, as much as on creativity, inspiration and freeing the imagination. It aimed to promote the participation of youth in envisioning a future vision of Alexandria.Projects submitted ranged from the building of underwater museums, to the rebuilding of the Lighthouse of Alexandria, to a complete modification of the area.
Design concept:
The Eastern Harbor with its famous ancient lighthouse inspired us to revive this great heritage redesign the anchored past into the 21 st. century with high technology vision.
