"Community: The American Way of Living" is the American contribution to the 2009 International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam, whose theme was "Open City: Designing Coexistence." The installations Interboro produced examine ideals of accessibility, tolerance, and diversity in the context of American suburbanization. Installations include a dictionary of 101 things that open or close the city ("The Arsenal of Exclusion / Inclusion"), a mural illustrating suburban spaces of encounter around the US ("The Open City Pops Up Where and When You Least Expect It"), and a selection of architectural projects that attempt to "open" the suburbs.
