Commonwealth Avenue

After the successful completion of the first phase of the Commonwealth Avenue streetscape improvements, Copley Wolff Design Group is now providing  landscape architectural design services for the second phase of the citywide Boulevard Project. The project scope for Phase two is comprised of Commonwealth Avenue from Boston University West to Packard’s Corner at Brighton Avenue. Pedestrian amenities, accessibility, sidewalk, and MBTA median design and crosswalk improvements are among the urban design and streetscape issues being addressed. Specific streetscape improvements include curbing and paving, site furnishings, planting, pocket parks, pedestrian lighting, recommendations for signage, façade treatments, and the incorporation of public art.In addition to work on Commonwealth Avenue, CWDG studied pedestrian options for the area around the Boston University Bridge where a new law school building and possible air rights development over the Massachusetts Turnpike are slated.
