This residence hall for 486 students addresses two major concerns. The first, cost, is solved by designing rooms that house four students each, simply arranged along double loaded corridors on three floors. The furnishings in each minimally-sized room were custom designed to permit several viable arrangements, each one offering a division of the room into four private realms. Additionally, six large study lounges and eighteen small alcoves and bay windows provide a variety of getaways in the complex.
The second concern, one of sheer massiveness, is solved by creating three separate entrance "houses," small in scale and house-like in image. The exterior spaces left over create courtyards which further break up the massiveness of the building. The three "houses" have their own distinctive interiors and identities: the Lodge, the Castle, and the Villa.
