The aim of this design is to reorganize the relationship in the existed buildings and Xi’an’s future city planning with the subway being built now. To activate the urbanized public space, an interesting and multi-use space is needed. However the building height is restricted by the local law. As a result, to correspond with the city’s texture and to avoid breaking the local restriction, a compromise in thinking about the organization of the new design elements with current existed elementsneeds further involvement. Realizing that the site is located in the most important axis-crossing the city’s most dense place, the two interesting points - Bell Tower and City Wall - and finding that the city’s proper-scale and open spaces are scarce, I focus on a semi-open space splitted by triangle, using each edge of triangle to control the flow, the ground open space, the underground semi-open space and so on. Hence this design is not only to serve as a mere occupancy but also to activate the city space as well as to conform it to the surrounding.
