DESIGN OF A MULTISTOREY BUILDING, SITE B, LOCATED IN TEHRAN, AT VALI ASR. AVENUE
Trying to get to the right idea for our project, where multi-cultural and modern Benetton conception mixes with tradition of Tehran and Iran, we visualize the project as a Persian goddess, “Ameretat”, goddess of immortality and plants protector. We hide her beauty under the traditional Hiyab, which turns into a protective technological coloured skin as Benetton trade mark, and that reflects the ecological character of double skin buildings. The beauty of the skin would be in the right proportion of its voids inside the shape.
APROACHING THE SITE
Getting into knowing Tehran and its landscape, here we find a grid of wide and narrow streets that give shape to our area, where, on right side we can see the only green part close to our site bounded by the grid streets.
We turn this idea the other way round and take the motion and movement and circulations and life inside A PROTECTIVE SKIN.
Aproaching the building
Inspiration comes from Iranian women, their dresses, and how Benetton, with its colours can turn their clothes as if they were in a celebration.
The building will have a woman body and a colourful skin protecting the interior treasure.
THE SKIN AND THE BODY
The skin is made by a composite material obtained by mixing natural and synthetic resins, crushed almond shells and other additives. After a polymerisation process the mixture is poured into a mould and baked under pressure, giving its rigid final finish. It can be moulded into any form or texture. Biodegradable, recyclable, light, water repellent.
The skin creates a sun protection and a chamber of ventilation for the building, and could chage colours by lighting design as needed and desired by Benetton.
Its voids are wider from bottom part (public) to upper part (private) reflecting that way the difference between public and private areas in the building: Commercial, Offices, Apartments. These different uses, are strongly differenciated in the building, commercial, offices and residential zones are clearly not interconnected. However, each of these interacts spacially withing itself by double and tripple storey heights. Although the mix use is strongly differenciated in the funcition of the building, the exterior skin shows a subtle variation by the grade of sift in relation to the function.
In addition to the main skin, there is a further layer membrane, a silkscreen glass with women eyes from all over the world, portraying the “Globality” , the different etnias and races as it has been constantly the branding motto for Bennetton.
Then we find the spirit of the building inside, THE INTERIOR TREASURE HIDDEN BY THE HIYAB.
