A New York City entertainment executive with we have designed multiple projects for, asked us to combine two apartments overlooking Columbus Circle. The goal was to create a sharp, modern home that would comfortably accommodate guests and his golden retriever without sacrificing a polished aesthetic. Our approach was to craft a highly designed space with extremely durable materials, and special consideration to divisions of space.
The overall strategy is one of concealment and revelation. Throughout the house, every object has its place, whether hidden inside custom millwork cabinets, or illuminated within niches. Floor-to-ceiling concealed doors allow sections of the apartment to be either connected or closed off from the next. This allows privacy and quiet between areas when entertaining or hosting guests. The master bedroom opens onto the 22nd story terrace. Two discreet desk areas afford cozy locations for work-from-home. A second bedroom, bath, and powder room complete the apartment.
The second entrance and mud room were artfully transformed into a dedicated doggy entry and canine suite, complete with sink, storage for food and accessories, and Italian ceramic stone floors.
