Situated on an historic estate in northwest Connecticut, this project included a master plan for the entire site and the full renovation of the early 20th century home. The new home design balanced the introduction of modern systems, materials and lifestyle while maintaining a sensitivity to the historic structure. New sun rooms were created to house a private office and a breakfast room adjacent to the large outdoor terrace and potager. Classic and modern materials such as marble slabs, mosaic and hand-painted tile, wide plank flooring and cerused oak cabinetry were selected to balance the client’s lifestyle within the historical context. A new landscape plan was developed with Deborah Nevins and Associates. Interior furnishings were developed by Barbara H. Ross.Featured in Town & Country, November 2009.
