FOURTH SEMESTER, YALE SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE Ed Mitchell, Critic
A careful analysis of Providence revealed a growing ring of density
around the downtown riverfront. Our scheme emphasizes the corners
of this zone by siting new development in the currently empty corner
lots. On the southeast corner we developed a laboratory park, and on
the southwest corner a mixed-use residential neighborhood with a
waterfront park. In both cases we used the architecture to exaggerate
the grain of the streets towards the river, thus maximizing the views
of the water and historic monuments around downtown Providence.
First phase completed with Alexandra Tailer.
