At Collage Architects, we navigate the intersection of design philosophy and budget constraints with ingenuity. Facing challenges such as limited space and budget fluctuations, we employed innovative solutions to bring our vision to life.
Our journey began with the realization that conventional construction methods wouldn't suffice for our three-story office building on a compact 328-square-meter plot in Soi Ratchadaphisek 32, Bangkok, Thailand. The tight space and surrounding neighbors posed logistical hurdles, leading us to embrace a Post Tension structure. Departing from traditional prefabricated elements, this approach streamlined construction while enhancing flexibility in space utilization.
Embracing the existing tamarind tree on-site, we crafted an L-shaped layout, integrating the staircase as a central feature. This deliberate design fosters connectivity, both internally and externally, inviting occupants to engage with nature at every turn.
Navigating budgetary constraints and evolving project needs, we adopted a minimalist design ethos, prioritizing the integrity of materials and structure. By repurposing special-sized brick blocks and utilizing prefabricated concrete plant pots, sourced from various locales, we orchestrated a symphony of textures and forms. Each element, meticulously arranged, contributes to a cohesive architectural narrative that speaks to our office's identity.
Our approach reflects the essence of collage, weaving together disparate elements to create something entirely new and meaningful.
