Located within walking distance of the Pacific Ocean, this site is a second-generation mixed forest of Western Hemlock and Sitka Spruce above a small wetlands. The particular natural qualities of the site inform the layout and spatial arrangement of the house and guest residence, with views back through the forest, overlooking the wetlands, and toward the Pacific.
The design is arranged as a series of buildings with wind- and rain-sheltered transitional spaces joined by an oversailing roof, and is intended to provide indoor-outdoor flexibility of use and to accommodate the client’s changing needs over time.
