The new New York offices unifyfive separate companies in a space that showcases transparency,openness, sustainability, warmth, and the company's Swiss roots.The new COFRA Group offices combine spaces for five separatecompanies. While all operate under the Swiss parent company's mantraof environmental and social responsibility, each had varying workstylesand ideas about the new office space. The project brief called forthe highest level of sustainable design, but the design team neededto balance that with the client’s non-negotiable request for private,perimeter offices. The resulting design is an innovative response tothose conflicting requirements, balancing private offices with expansiveopenness, views, and daylight from every point on the floor. The designincludes the incorporation of sustainable products in which GoodEnergies invests—both for symbolic and marketing purposes.The boardroom, which features custom, modular tables, can flex fromone large room or two smaller ones when needed. Graphics throughoutthe glass-filled space convey identity, unity, and varying levels ofprivacy. In many aspects, the project exceeds requirements for itsLEED-CI Gold rating. A green housekeeping plan, educational signage,occupancy sensors, and daylight harvesting ensure that the employeesare reminded of the green mission well into the future. The space alsofunctions as a marketing tool, featuring the products in which GoodEnergies invests.
