Co-op Helsingin Luotsinlinna is one of the most historically remarkable premises in Finland. This Jugend style building, completed in 1898 and designed by architects Herman Gesellius, Armas Lingren and Eliel Saarinen, has gone through a major overhaul from office premises back to residential use. The equally highly demanding and pleasant process has required close cooperation with various operators and careful attention to details. The apartments strongly feature the original atmosphere with the unconventional shapes and open spaces, inspired by Finnish nature. The attic storey with its loft apartment adds a new layer to the architecture. The innovation to separate the original structures and pitched roof with glass walls from the contemporary apartment preserves the historical structure while creating a unique interior.
