Sandwiched between an amateur football club’s two
artificial turf fields is a new clubhouse in Hoensbroek, Limburg. The
organization recently built a new facility in order to accommodate a
growing number of members.
MoederscheimMoonen Design designed a fashionable building in which
the program is allotted two stories. The dressing rooms and storage
are situated beneath ground level, while representative spaces are
situated 60cm above ground level.
The whole building is a rectangular box. Parts of the volume are
scooped out, resulting in covered cantilevered terraces. The facades
are composed by a select palette of bricks. At the representative level,
sections in the brick wall are left out in order to accommodate public
viewing: the football matches can be observed in every direction from
the canteen. Because the ground floor is elevated 60cm above the pitch,
games may be viewed readily.
