Michael Mina’s Clock Bar, right off the historic lobby of
the St. Francis
Hotel in San
Francisco, celebrates the art of mixology. Contrasting
a dark palette with glowing features sets the mood for a warm and elegant
environment. Two columns, designed by Brad Oldham and clad entirely in hand
blown glass, are the central focus of the space. Inspired by our collaboration
on a stacked glass light fixture for Leucos, the columns are covered in
variations of champagne and amber colored glass. At the top of both columns are
ticker clocks showing the time in New York, Rome, Tokyo, San Francisco, Paris and Chicago. This element
references the name of the bar itself, which is derived from the famous Magneta
Grandfather Clock in the main lobby of the hotel, that has been a central
meeting place in San Francisco since the hotel was first built. Guests will be
also be surrounded by luxurious materials, from warm rosewoods on the walls, to
black burned wood floors, to rich leather in night blue and chocolate brown
that cover the signature custom banquettes and lounge chairs.
