This medical project is located in the City of Monteria, Colombia. The 65,000 sq ft clinic, immerse in the lush tropical vegetation, is developed in two separate 4 story buildings connected by a three story atrium. The program included 44 patient rooms, 5 surgical suites, emergency room and 5 intensive care units, amongst the support laboratory, sterilization chambers and administrative offices. The design’s geometry, not only responds to the climatic conditions of the site, but also to the parcel’s property line shape and boundaries. What could have started out as a complete rectilinear box gets carved out by the irregular boundaries of the site, generating a series of dramatic cuts on the facades. Similar to the ones occurred in surgery exposing all what is inside in very vibrant shades of red color.
