Situated approximately 7 kilometres from the heart of Brisbane, the suburb of Clayfield features everything from Queenslander style homes on large blocks to modern luxury houses.
This particular renovation by Dion Seminara Architecture was undertaken on a Pre-1946 Californian Bungalow and consisted of both internal and external works.
The original streetscape of the home was quite appealing however the owners wanted a remote controlled gate placed across their driveway to enclose the yard. The renovation design included an elegant new entry gate and gate house with further add to the homes external visual appeal. A new double carport was linked back to the house as was the redesigned landscaped front yard which now has the appearance of a private courtyard.
The main bedroom and hallway were originally positioned in such a way as to receive the greatest benefit from the prevailing north-east breezes. These were therefore transformed into a new living room which now benefits from excellent natural ventilation and light.
A new addition to the rear of the home houses the gorgeous new kitchen and dining space with sliding doors connecting this area with the back deck and rear courtyard. This connection creates the impression of the home being much larger than it really is and also allows for the space to be closed off and therefore more intimate if desired.
The courtyard itself is a wonderful place to spend a warm summers evening with friends. Spacious yet with a feeling of closeness one immediately feels connected without feeling confined. A truly perfect renovation that has transformed the property into a modern family home that remains true to its origins.
