During a 6-week study abroad to Ghana, Africa, this classroom was designed and built by 18 Miami University students. All construction was done using local materials and no power tools.
The structure is designed so that ventilation will cool the building
during the hot African days while still shedding water that is present
during the rainy season. The shaded front porch faces an elementary
school courtyard that is sometimes used as a community gathering space.
