Civico is a Bar located in a 1950s building in Cassino, a little town in the central Italy. As frequently happen in the small centers, bars perform an important social function as meeting places. Aside from their principal function, they became a place to work, to exchange ideas, to relax, to socialize. The original structure is composed of a rectangular single room of 50 square meters (538.20 ft² ) with 6 large openings on three sides and a central pillar. The project for responds to the client’s brief of a discrete but attractive design for a bar easy to enjoy in every moment during the day and the night. By conceptually embedding a dynamic volume over an arrangement of the required bar elements including a counter, kitchen, toilet and customer area. The idea was to create a rhytmic space composed by several different volumes, a mix of geometric shapes and simple materials giving a warm and friendly atmosphere, designed to link the interior to the street.
