In the city center of Svilengrad, built as an extension of
the municipal administration in the late 20th century, the
building creates anurban
ensemble withsquare space. During the
democratic changes in Bulgaria, the building
in late social
realism style was neglected and left unfinished
for more than 20 years. 10AM Architecture develops socio-spatial
model for its rehabilitation, City events & information centre.
The 10AM Architecture?sconcept is to create a multi-layered space to fairly express the
cultural and historical layers from social,
economic and timing perspectives. So we
can identify three socio-cultural layers: on the level of the street and the
square with the war heroes monument; the square space of three meters
above the street level, where are the main entrances of Svilengrad Municipality and the new buildings; new level at ten meters,
developed as a free access city forum with public green
garden. The main features of the three historical periods of our recent history,
early capitalist, socialist and democratic are incorporated in the new Svilengrad landmark.
