In the image of the principles of spontaneity of the “flash-mob”, the project combines community and intimacy in a limited space and time. The building pro- motes a living environment in which social attractive- ness and the richness of exchanges are expressed as key elements of cooperative life, conducive to sponta- neous encounters and the appropriation of collective space.
In this context of promiscuity and domesticity, the sensitive management of privacy thresholds is carried out in successive stages, from public life (the street) to the private sphere (the bedroom). The programmatic grouping of certain functions (distributive zones, out- door spaces, kitchens and entrances) and the creation of spaces with diversified proportions and uses (cor- ridors, central void, alcoves) favour the habitability of moments of passage and give them synergies of use with multiple appropriations.
The accommodation occupies the 4 upper floors and accommodates 70 people in training. They house 10 to 15-room shared flats organised as duplexes and 3.5-room flats for student couples with children. The common areas (entrance, kitchen, dining room, living room, alcoves, co-working space) and private areas (bedrooms, bathrooms) are clearly partitioned, guar- anteeing areas of privacy and salutary retreat for the development of community life. The ground floor and basement complete the social offer with commercial (restaurant, shop, workshop) and collective (foyer, common room, music rooms) activities.
