In the town of Dronten there is a new building for
the CAH, the Christian Agricultural College: a new main building encased
in a glass skin borrowed from the field of high-grade greenhouse
construction with highly innovative climate control. The entire project
represents a unique achievement in terms of sustainability in the fields
of energy, building materials and social climate. The new main building is actually a building inside another building.
The area between the interior and exterior buildings provides a green
ambiance in which people can meet one another and spend some pleasant
time. The climate in that intermediate area can be controlled with solar
shading and ventilating roof and wall panels. The design also includes a
multifunctional green internal courtyard between the college’s two
towers.
