CHORUS
We like the sound of a chorus:
a unique melody made by the different voices of many members.
We would like it if an
architectural project could incorporate something from each member of the team
that designs it.
Similarly we would like it if
a home project could incorporate something from each member of the family that
will live there.
CHORUS
is a way to project an apartment today.
It is also an exercise of
architectural design that we give to our 1st year students.
For students with little design
experience it is very difficult to get in
touch with contemporary architecture and its spaces.
CHORUS
is a way to introduce them to
a contemporary kind of living space: hybrid, discontinuous, fragmental, rhapsodic, syncopated, spurious space.
An apartment is a place where Family
1234… will live.
Family 1234… is composed of
different people:
Mom
Dad
Daughter
Son
…
So the apartment’s space might be a place created from the various ideas
of each person that lives in the apartment.
A space like the sum of different ideas of space.
Mom likes apartment 1
Dad likes apartment 2
Daughter likes apartment 3
Son likes apartment 4
… likes apartment ...
Family 1234…’s apartment will have chunks of
apartment 1, 2, 3, 4… in it.
Family 1234…’s space will be a hybrid,
discontinuous, fragmental, rhapsodic, syncopated, spurious space like
the relationships between the members of a family are.
