The “City core” master plan for the Xiyong subcentral area in Chongqing considers the Xiyong sub central area as an economic and urban core for the wider surrounding territory of Chongqing city region. An exemplar model for how we might approach new urban developments in post industrial regions that have an underlying structure which originates from agricultural production. Core city and its three pronged approach to urban sustainability has a key ambition of ongoing renewal and adaptability has a key ambition of ongoing renewal and adaptability to its urban structure. The multi-scalar economic, social and environmental considerations attempt to consider the city from a range of crucial but overlapping perspectives. Where ‘CoreCity’ is a complex eco system where nature, man and collide. This complex urban eco system proposes an economic sustainable approach; a ‘triple bottom line’ where corporate and societal interests intersect, turning social responsibility into financial opportunity at the same time. Large corporate models and emerging micro economies support each other in post productive processes and variations in supply and demand The core city urban model seeks to develop a living structure which supports and accommodates change in the cities economic, environmental and social systems. This urban model is constructed as a set of clusters which allows for incremental growth and change to its structure without massive implications to the city and it’s people.
