Our entry in the 2011 Burnham Prize competition for the re-imagining of McCormick Place was to create the Chicago Monumental Art Pavilion, an exhibition space for large-scaled art installations. A diagonal grid skin replaces the enclosure, inspired by Mies' Chicago Convention Hall project. Larger than Dia:Beacon and the Tate Modern, CMAP utilizes the existing convention loading system to accommodate art that would be too large for other institutions to install. The superstructure has been manipulated to increase height, public access and light infiltration.
