The Agence Spatiale partners here with three sons—Frédérick, Maxime, and Jean-David—who wish to honor their mother, Denise, who passed away too soon from cancer a few years ago.
Located at the entrance to the town of Shannon, the restaurant aims to become a new gathering spot for small families, workers, and visitors passing through. The project also seeks to engage in the community life of the town. Its doors will always be open for local or community events to foster a sense of togetherness.
Chez Denise is a family snack bar project where one feels at home, with friendly designs and a warm atmosphere that evoke nostalgia and indulgence. The interior features vibrant color schemes, neon signs, and checkerboard patterns reminiscent of the retro charm of diners from the past.
The building stands out with a beige façade combining wood and brick, creating a striking contrast with the signage. The continuity of the exterior wood onto the cathedral ceiling adds warmth and authenticity to the interior. Generously high ceilings amplify the sense of spaciousness, while the gabled roof reinforces the cozy and welcoming residential vibe. A silver corrugated metal cladding adds a vintage touch, evoking the iconic chrome panels of classic American diners.
Connection to the outdoors is maximized with large glass garage doors and abundant windows. The terrace, located near the outdoor play area, provides families with a convivial and safe space.
Beyond its mission of serving delicious and unpretentious dishes, Chez Denise also believes in a greater cause: contributing to breast cancer research. Over the years, events and fundraisers will be held to donate part of its profits to the Canadian Cancer Society and support the fight against breast cancer.
