This residence is situated on the
Darß peninsula. It is located close to the village church and expansive
meadows. The building was designed as a courtyard house enclosing an existing
chestnut tree on a generous site.
The centre of the house is formed by
the spacious eat-in kitchen with fireplace, which opens up to the inner
courtyard as well as the surrounding meadows through large windows. The
bathrooms and sleeping rooms are located in the quieter wings of the buildings.
A mezzanine in the living room can serve as a retreating area and provides
additional sleeping space.
In order to bring the inner space
even closer to the outside and the seasonal moods, the kitchen and living room
area are fitted with a continuous skylight. Counter-sunk sliding doors, which
are hidden when open inside the walls, have the ability to either close off the
main rooms or let them flow into each other. In order to match the regional,
traditional construction method, the roofs of both parts of the building are
thatched.
