YEAR
2010
New build house on an extremely tight site of former garages. The house is conceived as two separated blocks, each of two stories, linked via a glazed stair core, and arranged around two sides of a sunken garden. The house is entered via the glazed stair well which commands the changes in level to the sunken garden and the similarly recessed living area below, and sleeping accommodation above. Upper levels of house are wrapped in horizontal timber cladding and sit on brick base walls containing the lower levels. The sunken courtyard provides light to the lower levels at the rear.
