This residential building is located in New York City’s West Chelsea district. Many of the area’s buildings have been converted into galleries and museums, while a recent influx of new commercial and residential projects has substantially changed the density and identity of the area. The Chelsea Modern project speaks to this physical and cultural transition. The building engages its infill condition and unique neighborhood character with an urban gesture that is both connective and dynamic, stitching its eclectic block with an undulating facade. Deriving its blue color from sky and water, the rippling glass facade reinforces movement towards the river and its parks.
